PM to visit Jashore on Monday

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Jashore to inaugurate a canal re-excavation programme on Monday (April 27). This will mark his first official visit to the district following the 13th national parliamentary election.

Earlier, he had attended a large election rally at the Jessore Upashahar Degree College ground on February 2.

According to district administration and party sources, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to land at Jashore Airport at around 10:15am on Monday.

From the airport, he will proceed directly to Ulashi in Sharsha Upazila. There, he will inaugurate the re-excavation work of the Ulashi–Jadunathpur canal, which is associated with the memory of former President Ziaur Rahman. A civic reception will also be held at the site.

Later, he will lay the foundation stone of a 500-bed Jessore Medical College Hospital in Jashore city at 1:15pm.

He will visit the historic Jashore Institute Public Library, which is nearly 200 years old at 1:30pm. After performing prayers and taking lunch break at the Circuit House, he will address a public rally at Jessore Eidgah Maidan at 3:30pm.

He is expected to leave Jashore for Dhaka in the evening after concluding the day’s programmes.

Jashore District BNP President Saberul Haque Sabu said large crowds are expected at all venues of the Prime Minister’s programmes.


Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan said that the advance team of the Special Security Force (SSF) has reached Jessore and is taking care of security matters on the occasion of the Prime Minister's arrival in Jessore. All security preparations have been made to ensure the Prime Minister's visit goes smoothly.
