PM wishes fast recovery for Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has offered prayers and good wishes for the quick and full recovery of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, "I pray that the Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, recovers swiftly and completely. May Almighty Allah grant him enduring health and strength. The people of Bangladesh join me in extending heartfelt good wishes to this valued friend of our nation" on Monday.

Notably, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office of Malaysia on Monday announced that the 79-year-old Anwar Ibrahim is undergoing various tests and medical procedures under the guidance of a medical team and may be kept under observation for two days. He had previously suffered from shoulder and back issues. Following the news of his illness, leaders from around the world have sent their best wishes.

Bilateral relations between the two countries have strengthened recently; in June, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Malaysia and met with Anwar Ibrahim in a private meeting.
