PM writes Qatar's Amir to boost investment in Bangladesh

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sent a letter to Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, inviting greater Qatari investment in Bangladesh as part of efforts to deepen bilateral economic cooperation and expand investment partnerships between the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed the development in a press release issued on Friday (July 24).

According to the ministry, the letter was handed over by Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman during a bilateral meeting with Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, on the sidelines of events marking the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) in Southeast Asia in Manila, the Philippines.

In the letter, the prime minister urged Qatar to increase investments in Bangladesh's high-potential sectors, highlighting the country's growing economic opportunities and business-friendly environment.

He also underscored the importance of broadening existing economic cooperation to unlock new avenues of partnership.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Qatar, with discussions focusing on trade, investment and other issues of mutual interest.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring new opportunities for economic engagement.

The meeting was held as part of a series of diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the TAC's 50th anniversary celebrations in Manila.
