PM's Advisor returns home from Delhi airport
Prime Minister's Advisor Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, who was in Delhi to attend the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) conference, has canceled his trip and decided to return home due to complications at the airport.
Citing sources close to the advisor, it was learned that after arriving at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, he was detained for some time and questioned on various issues on Sunday. Although he was later allowed to enter India, he expressed dissatisfaction with the treatment he received during the immigration process and decided not to enter the country. He then took the initiative to return to Bangladesh through another country.
Sources said that Zahed Ur Rahman left Dhaka for Delhi on an Air India flight at 3:20pm on Sunday. He was traveling using an ordinary passport. After landing at Delhi airport, he was reportedly detained for verification against India's watch list.
Meanwhile, Indian media outlet CNN-News18 reported that Zahed Ur Rahman's name was on an Indian security-related watch list and was identified during a routine screening. Later, after the necessary verification, he was allowed to enter.
The media outlet claimed that this situation arose due to an administrative error. After identifying and resolving the issue, the concerned officials granted him a clearance.
It is worth noting that after the July uprising, India blocked the YouTube channels of some Bangladeshi content creators and influencers. Indian authorities claimed that some of their statements were against the country. According to various sources, Zahed Ur Rahman's name was also on that list.
