Police arrest 44 individuals in special drives in Mohammadpur, Mirpur
Law enforcement agencies have arrested 44 people in separate special operations in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur and Mirpur areas as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and drug trafficking.
Officials confirmed on Monday (June 2) that the coordinated drives were conducted to maintain law and order and strengthen crime control in the capital.
In Mohammadpur’s Geneva Camp area, a joint anti-narcotics operation was carried out involving police, the Department of Narcotics Control and the DMP dog squad. The nearly four-hour drive led to the arrest of 16 individuals on allegations of involvement in drug-related activities. Legal proceedings are underway against them, police said.
Separately, Mirpur Model Police Station conducted a 24-hour operation in its jurisdiction, arresting 28 individuals linked to various criminal activities. Authorities said the detainees have already been sent to jail through court orders.
Senior officials of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said such operations will continue to ensure stability in the city’s law and order situation, adding that no criminal will be spared.
