Police members were attacked by supporters of Islamic speaker Mufti Gias Uddin Taheri while attempting to arrest him in Brahmanbaria's Bijoynagar. The incident took place on Saturday night (December 14) around 10:30 pm in the Nazirabari area of Char Islampur Union.

The attackers also damaged three police vehicles during the incident. Six of Taheri’s supporters have been arrested in connection with the attack.

Roshan Ali, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bijoynagar Police Station, said, "A case has been filed against Taheri in Akhaura for assaulting the police. After receiving information about his presence in Nazirabari, the police attempted to arrest him, but he took refuge in a nearby house and later escaped. During this time, his supporters attacked the officers and vandalized three police vehicles."

Earlier on Friday, a gathering (Mahfil) of Gias Uddin Taheri was held in Akhaura without permission. When police arrived and instructed the organizers to disperse, Taheri’s supporters launched an attack, injuring one police official. There were also allegations that provocative statements were made against the police during the event. As a result, a case was filed against Taheri and 15 others with Akhaura Police Station."
