Police Headquarters has clarified that a photo card circulating on social media, attributing a statement about bail to Police Inspector General (IGP) Baharul Alam, is false. The photo card reportedly claimed: “It is incomprehensible how arrested major criminals get bail within two to three days.” Police officials confirmed that the IGP never made this statement. According to a press release from the Police Headquarters on Wednesday, the image was created by distorting remarks made by the IGP during a press conference at the headquarters on Tuesday, September 30. The Media Wing of the Police Headquarters has condemned the spread of this misinformation and warned against the deliberate circulation of misleading news.

সম্প্রতি সামাজিক মাধ্যম ফেসবুকে অপরাধীদের জামিন সংক্রান্ত ইস্যুতে পুলিশ মহাপরিদর্শক (আইজিপি) বাহারুল আলমের বক্তব্য দাবি করে একটি ফটোকার্ড ভাইরাল হয়েছে। সেখানে বলা হয়েছে, ‘গ্রেপ্তার বড় বড় অপরাধীরা দুই-তিন দিনের মধ্যে জামিনে বের হয়ে যায় কীভাবে তা বোধগম্য নয়’। তবে প্রকৃতপক্ষে আইজিপি এমন বক্তব্য দেননি বলে জানিয়েছে পুলিশ সদরদফতর। বুধবার (১ অক্টোবর) গণমাধ্যমে পাঠানো এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এ তথ্য জানিয়েছে পুলিশ হেডকোয়ার্টার্স। এতে বলা হয়, গতকাল মঙ্গলবার (৩০ সেপ্টেম্বর) পুলিশ হেডকোয়ার্টার্সে অনুষ্ঠিত প্রেস কনফারেন্সে দেয়া আইজিপির বক্তব্য বিকৃত করে এ ফটোকার্ড প্রস্তুত করা হয়েছে। পুলিশ হেডকোয়ার্টার্সের মিডিয়া উইং উদ্দেশ্যমূলকভাবে এ অসত‍্য তথ‍্য প্রকাশের প্রতিবাদ জানাচ্ছে।
