Police facing public anger for carrying out illegal orders: CA Yunus

Dr Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser to the interim government, has alleged that the Awami League government had turned the police into a party force for the past 15 years. He also commented that the police have faced public anger for carrying out illegal orders.

The chief adviser said these things while inaugurating Police Week 2025.

He inaugurated the three-day event at Rajarbagh Police Lines on Tuesday (April 29) morning.

At the time, the chief adviser praised the good work of the police. He urged the police to play a greater role in establishing human rights and justice.

The theme of this year's Police Week is 'My Police, My Country, Non-Discriminating Bangladesh'. The Home Affairs Adviser, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, IGP and other senior officials concerned were present at the event.

From January 11 last year to February 28 this year, 62 police members received the Bangladesh Police Medal this time in recognition of their special contribution. The Chief Advisor presented the badges to the award-winning police officers.

Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM), Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM)-Service, President's Police Medal (PPM), President's Police Medal (PPM)-Service have been awarded in recognition of bravery and heroic deeds, innovative steps, solving sensational cases without any clues, efficiency, commendable contribution and disciplinary behavior.

In February last year, 400 people were awarded these medals.
