Police identify victim found cut into 7 pieces
Police have identified seven headless bodies recovered from the Manda area of Mugda in the capital.
The deceased has been identified as Mokarram Mia. He is the son of Soorhab Mia of Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mugda Police Station Md. Ahsan Ullah confirmed the matter. He said that no one has been arrested in the incident yet. An investigation is underway to uncover the real cause of the incident. Detailed information will be provided after the investigation.
Earlier, seven dismembered parts of Mokarram Mia's half-decayed body were recovered from the basement of 'Shahnaz Villa' in Abdul Gani Road area of Manda on Sunday (May 17) afternoon. After recovering the parts wrapped in polythene, the police recovered the head of the deceased from a lane in East Maniknagar area of Mugda at midnight that day.
In this regard, Mugda Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Raihan said that initially it is believed that the miscreants cut the body, including the hands and feet, into seven pieces after killing Mukarram Mia and dumped it there.
He further said that after the legal process, the dismembered parts of the body were sent to the Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital morgue for autopsy.
