Police killed in collision with battery-run auto-rickshaw in Jamalpur

A police constable lost his life in a road accident involving a motorcycle and a battery-powered auto-rickshaw in Nurundi area of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila.

The deceased has been identified as Abid Hasan, a constable attached to the Nurundi Police Investigation Center. The accident occurred around 5 PM on Wednesday in the Aralia area of Nurundi.

According to Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the Nurundi Police Investigation Center, Abid Hasan was traveling on his motorcycle carrying official documents when his vehicle collided with a battery-powered auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The impact caused him to fall onto the road, and the auto-rickshaw ran over him.

Abid Hasan, son of the late Nowser Ali from Itachakri village in Muktagachha Upazila of Mymensingh, was immediately taken to the hospital but was declared dead by the attending physicians due to the severity of his injuries.

Saidur Rahman confirmed the incident and stated that the body has been recovered. He added that legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
