Police officer found hanging in rented house in Rangamati
A police officer was found dead in his rented residence in the Tabalchhari area of Rangamati town, police said on Tuesday (June 2).
The deceased was identified as Sajedul Haque, a Sub-Inspector (SI) attached to a police outpost under Rangamati Sadar Police Station.
According to police, his hanging body was recovered from the residence on Monday night. He had been living in a rented house at the Post Office Colony in Tabalchhari with his wife and child.
Following the incident, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib, Additional Superintendent of Police Iqbal Hossain, and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Jasim Uddin visited the scene.
Confirming the incident, SP Muhammad Abdur Rakib said police initially suspect that a family dispute may have been a factor behind the death.
"Based on preliminary findings, it is believed that he may have died by suicide following family-related problems. The body has been recovered from the scene and sent to the hospital," he said.
Police said an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. No further details were immediately available.
