Police have released teenage suspect Nirjon Amin Khan, who was detained from the Dhanmondi 32 area of the capital. He was handed over to his family on Thursday evening. Family members took him home from Dhanmondi Police Station.

It was learnt that the 14-year-old boy was detained around 10am on Thursday. His home is in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh.

After the detention, police had said that the boy’s behaviour seemed suspicious and his statements were confusing. He identified himself as a student, but at one point claimed to be involved with Chhatra Dal, and later with Chhatra Shibir. After examining the documents and other items found in his bag, police initially suspected that he might be linked to the banned organisation Chhatra League.

After verifying his identity, Deputy Commissioner of Ramna Division Police Masud Alam said that the detained boy had come from his village home in the morning to visit Dhanmondi 32. Police found no suspicious or negative information about him after checking his background. Therefore, he was released from Dhanmondi Police Station.Police release teenage suspect detained from Dhanmondi 32
