Police rescue woman forced into prostitution at Manikganj beauty parlour, 3 held

Allegations have surfaced that a young woman was forced into sex work at a beauty parlour in Manikganj district town. Police rescued the woman on Saturday night following a tip-off. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The arrested are – parlour owner Ratna Yasmin, 40, her son Md Tushar Rahman, 24, and Tajnin Akhter Chandni, 23. Two others named as accused in the case managed to flee sensing police presence.

The injured woman has been sent to the 250-bed General Hospital for treatment.

According to the case statement, the parlour owner and her associates had been running a sex racket for a long time. The victim worked at the parlour but was allegedly forced into sex work. When her younger sister came to visit during the incident, the accused allegedly pressured them further. The victim was beaten, tied up with chains, had her hair cut with scissors, and had her face blackened during the torture.

Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ikram Hossain said a case has been filed against five individuals on charges of rape and torture. Three have been arrested so far, and operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused.
