Political parties must reform their system: Amir Khasru

BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that political parties must reform their internal systems.

He made the remarks on Saturday afternoon, October 11, while speaking at a seminar on the electoral system held at Cosmos Centre in the capital.

Calling for an immediate election, he said, “Elections must be held under the current constitution to restore democracy and return the people’s voice. The matters already agreed upon can be discussed in parliament. What should happen and what should not—the people will decide.”

Highlighting the need for an effective parliament, he said, “We must move forward with the agreed issues outlined in the Charter.”

“There is no room for one-party rule in democracy,” he said. “Those who win the election must lead the country out of this situation. Our political system must change. We have to respect differing opinions and the opposition. It’s time to come out of confrontational political culture.”
