Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said the Election Commission (EC) is prepared to face any challenge surrounding the upcoming polls. However, he warned that if political parties do not cooperate, there is a risk that the election may be called into question.

On Monday, November 17, he made the remarks while speaking to journalists during a meeting with political parties at the Election Commission building in Agargaon, regarding the electoral environment, compliance with the code of conduct, and ensuring a fair election.

He said the EC will take all necessary measures to ensure a proper and peaceful environment.

Highlighting the importance of the electoral code of conduct, the CEC said, “The code of conduct exists to prevent any problems from arising. The main reason for calling political parties is to ensure compliance with the code.”

Speaking about the role of political parties, he said, “If political parties instruct their leaders and activists to follow the code of conduct, many things become easier. This code has been formulated after considering everyone’s opinions.”

He added, “Our sons and daughters will live in this country. If we want to give them a better nation, there is no alternative to a good election. Through elections, we want to hand over power to the people’s representatives and build a better country.”
