Polytechnic students enforce blockade at Sat Rasta intersection

Students from polytechnic institutions blocked the capital’s Sat Rasta intersection on Monday causing long tailbacks across the capital.

The students blocked the intersection placing a six-point demand, due to which lanes leading to Mohakhali and Hotel Holiday Inn were completely congested.

The six-point demand placed by students includes are: transferring all the controversial craft instructors recruited after 2021, ensuring that Diploma Engineering courses are of four-years tenure and have complete semesters of six months, creating a rule enabling only diploma engineers to apply for sub-assistant engineer (10th Grade) positions, restructuring the Polytechnic Education Board so that no one except those having polytechnic backgrounds can run the sector, filling up the vacancies by recruiting teachers having polytechnic education and ensuring 100% seats at the four proposed engineering colleges for students coming out of polytechnic institutions.
