Popular artists take to the field for BNP election campaign
Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election–2026 scheduled for 12 February, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) Central Election Steering Committee’s Cultural Sub-Committee has become actively involved in cultural campaigning. To strengthen direct engagement with voters, a day-long cultural programme was organised in the constituency of BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman.
The campaign was coordinated by popular singer Monir Khan, a member of the BNP Central Election Steering Committee and head of its Cultural Sub-Committee. Under his leadership, artists and cultural activists toured different parts of the constituency, performing music and engaging in public outreach, creating a festive election atmosphere and drawing large crowds.
Prominent participants in the day-long programme included renowned singer Robi Chowdhury, actress Rina Khan, singers Bipasha Yasmin and Mimi Alauddin, actor Shahed, actress Shimla, singers Muhin Khan, Shawkat Ali Emon and Rimi, actress Shah Humaira Subha, and presenter Jannatul Ferdous Tuli. Also present were BNP Central Executive Committee International Affairs Assistant Secretary Nazmul Abedin Mohon and Cultural Sub-Committee Coordinator, noted writer and lyricist Dr Manab Surat.
As part of the campaign, musical performances, brief cultural segments and direct interaction were used to convey election messages to voters. The spontaneous participation of local residents made the programme lively, with many joining the artists in discussions on the election.
Organisers said culture-based campaigning generates quick public response and is easily accepted by people, which is why such initiatives are being given special importance during the election period. They added that cultural engagement will be further intensified as the election draws closer, with similar programmes planned in the coming days.
