A court has set September 29 for the hearing on framing charges in the drug case filed against actress Pori Moni and two others.

Dhaka Special Judge's Court Judge Rabiul Alam set the date on Monday. On that day, Pori Moni's lawyer Nilanjana Rifaat filed a petition seeking time to postpone the hearing. The court granted the petition. However, Pori Moni was not present in court.

The other two accused in the case — Pori Moni's manager Ashraful Islam Dipu and her uncle Kabir Hossain Hawlader — were present in court.

In 2021, several days after she filed a case against businessman Nasir Uddin on charges of attempted rape, RAB conducted a raid at Pori Moni's residence on August 4. The law enforcement agency claimed to have recovered liquor and drugs from the residence and arrested her.

Later, on October 4 that year, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submitted a charge sheet in the drug case against Pori Moni and two others. Along with Pori Moni, her manager Ashraful Islam Dipu and uncle Kabir Hossain Hawlader were named as accused in the case.

On January 5, 2022, the court framed charges in the case. Later, Pori Moni filed a petition with the High Court seeking cancellation of the charge framing order. On March 1 that year, the High Court issued a rule and stayed the case proceedings for three months in Pori Moni's case.

Subsequently, the High Court directed the court to hold a hearing on the reframing of charges in the case. Following this, the date for the hearing on framing charges has now been set for September 29.
