Entry of visitors to the National Memorial in Savar has been restricted until 15 December, due to security, cleaning and maintenance activities ahead of Victory Day celebrations.

The matter was confirmed on Monday, December 8, in the morning by Anwar Khan Anu, in-charge of the National Memorial. According to the authority’s notice, the restriction has been enforced as part of preparations during state events, cleaning activities and strengthened security measures. The restriction is applicable from December 6 to December 15, covering a total of ten days.

During a spot visit, it was observed that scrubbing, polishing and repainting works have already begun across the paved areas of the memorial. The bricks are being cleaned and painted in brown and white shades. Additionally, all unauthorised structures around the memorial have been removed and the surrounding areas have been fully cleared.

Anwar Khan Anu, in-charge of the National Memorial, said, “Necessary preparations are underway to ensure smooth execution of the state ceremony on Victory Day. For this reason, a temporary decision has been taken to restrict entry. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to visitors and seek their cooperation.”

He further stated that preparatory activities will continue in order to keep the memorial premises neat, organised and safe for Victory Day.
