Preserving nature key to sustainable tourism: Rizwana Hasan
Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan stated that if Bangladesh can protect its natural resources, it could emerge as a top destination for local and foreign tourists.
She made the remark while addressing reporters on Saturday (27 September) after inaugurating a rally, city tour, and food stalls in Dhaka marking World Tourism Day at Agargoaan in Dhaka.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism organised the event.
She emphasized the importance of planned urbanisation, clean environments, safe waste management, and preservation of cultural heritage for tourism growth.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s natural treasures such as Sylhet's tea gardens, Cox’s Bazar’s beaches, the Sundarbans, and the hill region waterfalls, she said sustainable tourism hinges on preserving these assets.
She also urged citizens to practice responsible tourism.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Tourism Secretary Nasreen Jahan, and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Chairperson Saima Shahin Sultana among the others atteded the event.
