President announces dissolution of Jatiya Sangsad

President Md Sahabuddin has announced the dissolution of the 12th national parliament.

According to a press release sent by the President's Press Wing on Tuesday (August 6) afternoon, “President Md Sahabuddin dissolved the parliament following the decision of the chiefs of army, navy and air force, leaders of various political parties, representatives of civil society and leaders of Students Against Discrimination.”

“BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been released from jail and the process to release the students detained between July 1 to August 5 for taking part in the movement is underway and many have already been released,” the release added.

Meanwhile, after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina's government, the outline of the interim government is being discussed. The coordinators of the student movement and various political parties will give suggestions on how this interim government will be formed. After that, the interim government will be finalized.
