President approves investigation into ‘some’ SC judges
President Mohammed Shahabuddin has given permission to investigate the allegations against some Supreme Court judges.
The President has given this instruction following Article 96 of the Constitution. In view of this, the Supreme Judicial Council will start the investigation process next week.
The Supreme Court administration gave this information on Monday (January 6) evening. However, the Supreme Court administration did not specify the number of judges against whom permission has been given to investigate.
The Supreme Judicial Council, led by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed, conducted a preliminary inquiry into the conduct of some judges and sent a report to the President on December 15. Earlier, on December 4, the Supreme Court informed that a preliminary inquiry is underway in the Supreme Judicial Council into the conduct of several judges of the high court division. There has been sufficient progress in this regard. In addition, a letter in this regard has reached the Supreme Court from Bangabhaban. In view of that letter, the Supreme Judicial Council will investigate the alleged judges.
