President gives consent to announce poll schedule

President of Bangladesh, Mohammed Shahabuddin, has given his consent to announce the election schedule.  This development has come as the Cheif Election Comissioner Kazi Habibul Awal held a meeting with the president on Thursday.

During the meeting, the CEC briefed the president about the overall scenario of the upcoming 12th general elections.

Now the Election Comissioners will sit and complete remaining formalities to finalize the date and will announce a schedule soon, said Cheif Election comissioner Kazi Habibul Awal.

After the meeting, the CEC told media that the election will be held on due time authorized by the constitution.
