President Mirza Fakhrul arrives in Thakurgaon

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has arrived in his home district Thakurgaon on a two-day official visit. He landed at the Thakurgaon Mohammad Ali Stadium ground by helicopter from Dhaka at 12:58pm on Sunday, September 6.

He was received by Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Rafiqul Haque, Superintendent of Police Md Belal Hossain and members of the civic reception committee. He later reached the circuit house at 1:02pm and received a guard of honour.

At the start of the visit, he is scheduled to visit the Senua graveyard in the town to pay respects at his parents' graves. He will then go to his own residence in the Kalibari area around 1pm for lunch and rest.

In the afternoon, he will attend a civic reception at the Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School ground at 3pm.

After the reception, he will return to his residence for meetings with dignitaries, relatives and locals. He will stay there for the night.

On Monday, September 7, the second and final day of his visit, he is scheduled to hold meetings with dignitaries and locals from 9:30am. He will then lay the foundation stone of the proposed Thakurgaon University on the Thakurgaon-Pirganj road in the Jamalpur area of Sadar upazila. After the ceremony, he will return to his residence for lunch and rest. He will then proceed to the circuit house to receive a guard of honour and depart by helicopter for Bangabhaban around 2pm.

Extensive security measures have been taken for the President's visit, with law enforcement deployed at all key locations including the stadium, circuit house, cemetery and his residence.
