President to visit Sylhet Tuesday, attend civic reception

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is going to Sylhet on Tuesday, September 15, on a nine-hour visit. This will be his first visit to Sylhet since taking office as the country's 23rd President.

During the visit, the President will visit the shrines of two saints in Sylhet. Additionally, Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) has arranged a civic reception in his honour.

Preparations across the city are almost complete centring the President's visit. Strict security measures have also been taken.

According to the President's Office schedule, the President will arrive at Sylhet Osmani International Airport from Dhaka by air at 11:15am on Tuesday. From there, he will go directly to Sylhet Circuit House and rest for some time.

Later, he will visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) at 12:30pm and the shrine of Hazrat Shahparan (RA) at 1:25pm.

After returning to Sylhet Circuit House for lunch and rest, the President will attend the civic reception organised by SCC at the Nagar Bhaban premises at 3:30pm. After the reception, he will leave Sylhet for Dhaka by air at 8pm.

Archways, lighting and cleaning work have been completed on various roads in the city centring the President's arrival. Security has also been strengthened at the visit sites, travel routes and important areas.

The district administration and police administration have held separate coordination meetings and taken overall preparations. Special Security Force, President Guard Regiment, law enforcement agencies and intelligence agency members will be on duty for the President's security.

Regarding the civic reception arrangement, SCC Administrator Abdul Kayyum Chowdhury said seating arrangements have been made for around 1,200 invited guests at the reception venue. Representatives from various professions will speak at the event. A cultural programme will follow the President's speech.

He said leaders of all political parties registered with the Election Commission have been invited, but the entire event has been kept apolitical.
