Press conference on seat-sharing among 11 parties postponed

The previously announced press conference on electoral seat-sharing among 11 parties, including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has been postponed.

Jamaat-e-Islami disclosed the decision in a press release issued around 2:15 pm on Wednesday, January 14.

The statement said, “The press conference announced by the 11 parties, scheduled for 4:30 pm today, January 14, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.”

Asked about the matter, Hamidur Rahman Azad, coordinator of the 11-party alliance and assistant secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami, said the press conference had been postponed due to unavoidable reasons as some preparations were still pending. He added that a new date would be announced later.

Earlier, an invitation circulated among media outlets around 11:30 am on Wednesday said a press conference would be held at the Muktijoddha Hall of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh, to make a final announcement on seat-sharing among the 11 parties for the upcoming national parliamentary election. Senior leaders of the alliance were expected to attend.
