Press secretary at Bangladesh mission in Kolkata Choyon gets ‘Maitri Samman’
Md Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan, alias Tarique Choyon, First Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, has been honored with the ‘Maitri Samman’ award in West Bengal of India. The award was presented to him on Saturday (August 9) at a colorful event held in Ghoshpur, North 24 Parganas.
According to the organizers, Tarique Choyon’s tireless efforts in building bridges between Bangladesh and India, fostering cross-cultural cooperation, and strengthening ties through journalism have been highly lauded. The ‘Maitri Samman’ is seen as a sincere initiative to further deepen the bond between the people of the two countries.
The event was jointly organized by the Barasat Academy of Culture and the Dinesh Smriti Pathagar of the Government of West Bengal.
Earlier, in April this year, Tarique Choyon received the ‘Best Bengali Award 2025’ in Kolkata. The honor was conferred at Nazrul Centenary Hall by the International Literary Coordination Centre, recognizing his contributions in promoting Bangladeshi literature and culture abroad, as well as his diplomatic vision and leadership.
