Primary assistant teacher recruitment exam being held today
The written examination for the recruitment of assistant teachers in government primary schools for 2025 is being held today (January 9).
The exam is taking place simultaneously in 61 districts across the country, excluding the three hill districts, with around 1.08 million job seekers participating.
A total of 1,080,080 applications were submitted against 14,385 vacant posts in two phases according to the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE). About 75 candidates are competing for each post.
The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said the exam, originally scheduled for January 2, was postponed due to the declaration of state mourning following the death of former prime minister Khaleda Zia. Later, considering candidates’ convenience and administrative coordination, it was decided to hold the exam this afternoon (January 9).
The DPE said candidates must bring their admit cards and national identity cards. All candidates must be seated at their designated seats by 2:00pm on Friday. All entry points to the examination centres will be closed at 2:30pm. After that, two OMR sheets will be distributed in the examination halls, and no one will be allowed to leave the centre until the exam ends.
The instructions also state that no one will be allowed to sit for the exam without an admit card. Carrying books, notes, papers, calculators, mobile phones, watches, electronic devices, or communication tools is strictly prohibited. During the exam, candidates must keep both ears uncovered and use only black ballpoint pens on the answer sheets.
The DPE said a pre-determined set code will be assigned to each candidate on the OMR form, as mentioned on the admit card. If a candidate appears for the exam using any set code other than the assigned one, the answer sheet will be considered invalid.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Primary Education has warned candidates not to be misled by rumours of question paper leaks circulating on social media surrounding the assistant teacher recruitment exam. In a notice, it said all stages of the recruitment process are conducted through automated software, leaving no scope for question leaks or illegal interference. Security at each centre has been strengthened with the assistance of the district administration and law enforcement agencies.
