Primary registration for 2027 Hajj begins today

The primary registration for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage begins today (July 27) and will remain open until September 24, with the Ministry of Religious Affairs urging prospective pilgrims to complete the process within the stipulated deadline.

In a statement issued on Sunday (July 26), the ministry said the registration schedule has been set in line with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's official roadmap for the 2027 pilgrimage.

Under both the government and private schemes, applicants must deposit Tk 350,000 for primary registration. However, all intending pilgrims are first required to complete pre-registration by depositing Tk 30,000. Those who complete primary registration must pay the remaining amount of their selected Hajj package and finalize registration by December 10.

According to the statement, pilgrims under the government scheme can register through the e-Hajj system by creating a user ID or use designated registration centres, including Union Digital Centres (UDCs), Islamic Foundation offices, district and upazila model mosques, Baitul Mukarram offices and the Dhaka Hajj Office.

The ministry directed that payments for government registration must be made through any branch of Sonali Bank, while applicants under the private scheme must deposit the required amount into the designated bank accounts of their respective Hajj agencies, available on the Hajj portal.

The ministry also reiterated Saudi Arabia's eligibility criteria, stating that individuals below 15 years of age will not be allowed to perform Hajj. Those suffering from serious heart, lung, liver or kidney diseases, severe neurological or mental disorders, dementia, or undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy or biological therapy for cancer will also be ineligible.

Additionally, pilgrims with active contagious diseases, including tuberculosis (TB) and hemorrhagic fever, will not be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage.
