Bobby Hajjaj said primary-level students in Bangladesh will begin studying under a new curriculum from 2028 following the completion of curriculum development, teacher training and pilot implementation phases on Sunday (May 17).

The state minister for primary and mass education made the announcement while speaking at a meeting organised by the National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) to present the baseline report of a pilot programme aimed at improving language skills.

“The curriculum design will be completed within the next one year. Training for teachers under the new curriculum will be completed in 2027 and 2028,” he said.

According to the minister, the government is planning a phased implementation process to ensure teachers are adequately prepared before the new curriculum is introduced nationwide.

The pilot programme focuses on enhancing students’ language proficiency at the primary level as part of broader education reform efforts.
