Prime accused in Lawyer Saiful's murder arrested in Bhairab
Police have arrested Chandan (38), the prime accused in the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam in Chattogram, in Bhairab, Kishoreganj.
He was apprehended during a raid at Bhairab Railway Station at around 12:15am on Wednesday (December 4).
Md Shahin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhairab Police Station, confirmed this.
He said, "Chandan, the prime suspect, had been evading arrest but was planning to seek refuge at his in-laws' house at Methorpatti in Bhairab. The Chittagong Detective Branch tracked him using technology and discovered he was in the area. A police team stationed at the railway station arrested him around 11.00pm after he arrived by train."
"Chandan is currently in police custody. We have notified Chattogram Kotwali Police Station, and he will be handed over to Kotwali Police authorities upon their arrival." he added.
Earlier on November 26, lawyer Saiful Islam was murdered in a clash near the Chittagong court, following the court's rejection of bail for Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a spokesperson for the Sammilito Sanatani Jagoron Jote.
