Principal dies in gas cylinder explosion in Sripur
During the Eid holidays, Shaheda Ahmed, principal of Dhaka Oxbridge International School, had gone to her family home in Sripur, Gazipur. While cooking, a gas cylinder suddenly exploded, leaving nearly 55% of her body severely burned. She was immediately admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.
Shaheda Ahmed succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment on Sunday morning (March 29).
The incident occurred at her family home in Sripur, Gazipur, on Wednesday night (25 March). She was a resident of the village and the wife of Professor Josim Uddin, president of Gazipur High School. She lived in Dhaka.
Relatives said Shaheda had gone to her village with her family for the Eid holiday. A gas leak in the kitchen caused a sudden fire, engulfing the house and seriously burning her on Wednesday night. She was first taken to Maona Alhera Hospital for initial treatment and then transferred to Dhaka’s National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
Professor Josim Uddin stated that nearly 55% of her body was burned. As her condition worsened, she was placed on life support, but she passed away despite medical care on Sunday morning.
