Prison emergency services to be launched tomorrow

The emergency service number in jails is being launched keeping in mind the needs of the prisoners.

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury will inaugurate this emergency service on Sunday (January 26).

He will inaugurate this emergency service number after visiting Keraniganj Central Jail at 10am.

In this regard, Colonel Mohammad Mustafa Kamal, Additional Inspector General of Prisons of the Prisons Department, said that this emergency service will be launched keeping in mind the prisoners. Family members will be able to check on the prisoners through the emergency service.

In this regard, ABM Nazmus Shakib, Assistant Professor of the Department of Criminology, Dhaka University, said that this system is in use in the developed world. With the introduction of this system in our country, people from far and wide will be able to easily check on the prisoners. This is part of a positive program.
