'Probashi Card' to be launched by the end of August: State Minister
State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur has announced that the "Probashi Card" for expatriates will be launched towards the end of August. Functioning similarly to an ATM card, this card will allow expatriates to conduct banking transactions as well as easily access various government services upon returning to the country.
He made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a discussion meeting titled "Expectations, Achievements, and Future of the July Mass Uprising," organized by the district wing of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad at the Munshiganj Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium on Wednesday afternoon (August 19).
Nurul Haque Nur stated that the Probashi Card can be used for banking transactions just like an ATM card. At the same time, it will help resolve various issues and facilitate receiving government services upon returning home. Cardholder expatriates will also receive priority treatment when seeking medical care at government hospitals.
He noted that expatriates make a vital contribution to the nation's economy, and the government is taking various initiatives to ensure their facilities and welfare. The introduction of the Probashi Card will streamline the process of accessing services for Bangladeshis living both at home and abroad.
The discussion meeting was inaugurated by Munshiganj-3 Member of Parliament Md. Kamruzzaman Ratan, with Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad President Nazmul Hasan speaking as the main discussant. Gono Odhikar Parishad General Secretary Hasan Al Mamun and Munshiganj District Council Administrator A.K.M. Iradat Manu, among others, were present at the event, which was presided over by district Chhatra Odhikar Parishad President Muhammad Raju.
Speakers at the event discussed the expectations, attainments, and future prospects of the July mass uprising. Later, financial assistance and commemorative crests were handed over to the family members of those martyred during the uprising.
