Probe against 12 judges ends, recommendations sent to President

The Supreme Judicial Council has completed its investigation into allegations against several judges of the higher court for acting as accomplices to fascism. The findings and recommendations have already been sent to the President.

This information was announced on the Supreme Court website on Sunday (December 15) morning. As per the rules, the President will now implement the recommendations of the Supreme Judicial Council.

Earlier, on December 4, the Supreme Court said in another notification that the Supreme Judicial Council is conducting a preliminary investigation into allegations of misconduct against several judges of the Supreme Court and that progress has been made in this investigation.

Incidentally, during the sit-in and protest of anti-discrimination students on October 16 at the Supreme Court premises, demands were raised for the resignation of judges who were allies of the fallen Awami League government. On that day, the Supreme Court administration announced its decision not to assign benches to 12 judges of the High Court division. Those judges are now out of judicial work and on leave.

The judges are: Justice Ataur Rahman Khan, Justice Naima Haider, Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif, Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar, Justice Ashish Ranjan Das, Justice Khizir Hayat, Justice S.M. Moniruzzaman, Justice Khondker Diliruzzaman, Justice Shahed Nuruddin, Justice Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Justice Md. Aminul Islam, and Justice S.M. Masud Hossain Dolon.
