Professor Dr. Azam Khan appointed as new proctor of JnU

Economics Department Professor Dr. Md. Azam Khan has been appointed as the new proctor of Jagannath University (JnU). He succeeds Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin from the Computer Science and Engineering Department. Professor Azam currently serves as the president of 'Sada Dal,' the BNP-aligned teachers' organization at the university.

The appointment of Professor Azam Khan to the additional responsibility of proctor was announced through a notification signed by Acting Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Sheikh Gias Uddin on Tuesday. According to the notice, this responsibility has been assigned to Professor Azam subject to syndicate approval and until further notice, following an application submitted by outgoing Proctor Professor Mohammad Nasir Uddin due to illness and his need to travel abroad for medical treatment.

The new assignment will take effect from Wednesday. The office order states that Professor Azam Khan will perform the duties of the proctor from the date of joining until further notice, and he will receive allowances and other benefits according to university regulations.

Professor Nasir Uddin fell suddenly ill on Monday night and was rushed to a private hospital in Dhaka by ambulance. Following his sudden illness and application for medical leave abroad, the university administration decided to appoint a new proctor.
