Promotion of 826 judges in 3 ranks
The interim government has approved a large-scale promotion for judges serving in subordinate courts. The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued notifications transferring and promoting a total of 826 judges across the country.
Two separate notifications signed by Deputy Secretary A F M Golzar Rahman were issued on Wednesday afternoon, November 26. After promotion, the judges have been assigned to their new postings.
According to the notification on district and sessions judge promotions, 250 additional district and sessions judges have been promoted to district and sessions judges in the first grade of the 2016 Judicial Service (Pay and Allowances) Order, with a salary range of 70,925–76,350.
In total, 826 judges have been promoted and posted: 250 from additional district judge to district judge, 294 from joint district judge to additional district judge and 282 from senior assistant judge to joint district judge.
The notification further states that the promoted judges must hand over their current duties to officials designated by the head of office on 27 November and join their new postings by 1 December.
Officials currently on training, maternity leave or foreign leave have been instructed to join their posts after completing leave or training and immediately take charge of their promotion-assigned workplaces.
