Students in Barishal organized a protest rally on Sunday in response to alleged attacks on the ongoing movement demanding reforms in Bangladesh’s healthcare sector. The demonstration took place at noon in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall on Sadar Road.

Protesters included students from various schools and colleges across the city, as well as members of the general public. The rally was part of a wider movement that has been gaining momentum nationwide, with Barishal’s Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital at its center.

Speaking at the event, demonstrators alleged that organized groups have repeatedly attacked peaceful protesters involved in the health sector reform campaign. They demanded immediate justice for the victims of these attacks and strict action against those responsible.

“The movement will continue until meaningful reforms are implemented in the healthcare system,” said one of the student leaders during the rally.

Following the gathering, participants marched through the city’s main streets in a peaceful procession.

Students across the country, including those at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, have been staging protests for the past 21 days. As part of their movement, some have also engaged in hunger strikes to press their demands.
