A group of activists staged a sit-in protest outside the residence of BNP advisor Fazlur Rahman in Segunbagicha, demanding his immediate arrest.

The demonstration began around midnight Sunday under the banner of ‘Revolutionary Student People’ near Concord Tower. Leaders and members of various organizations, including the Bangladesh Democratic Student Parliament and July Political Prisoners, joined the protest.

Fazlur Rahman was recently served a show-cause notice by the BNP for allegedly making “vulgar and misleading statements” about the July mass uprising. He has been asked to respond within 24 hours.

Around 8 to 10 protesters sat on the road holding banners, shouting slogans calling for Rahman’s arrest. Law enforcement officers were present at the scene to maintain order.

Syed Mahadi Hasan, central representative of the July Political Prisoners, said, “Fazlur Rahman insulted the July movement by labeling it a dark force against the revolution. We demand his immediate arrest and an apology for his remarks. We will continue our sit-in until our demands are met.”

Ramna Police Station OC Golam Faruq confirmed the protest and said police remain vigilant.
