Police officers, who were on strike, have announced that they will end their strike. The announcement came after they held a meeting with Home Affairs Adviser Brigadier General (Retired) M Sakhawat Hussain. Representatives of the protesting police members Zahidul Islam (Police Inspector) and Shoaib Ahmed (Constable) confirmed this tonight. "We are announcing the withdrawal of the strike after receiving assurance that most of the demands we made to the government will be accepted. We hope everyone will return to their duties," said Shoaib Ahmed. The meeting between the protesting police force and the home affairs adviser took place in the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs tonight.

কর্মবিরতি প্রত্যাহারের ঘোষণা দিয়েছেন আন্দোলনরত পুলিশ সদস্যরা। রোববার (১১ আগস্ট) স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ে এক বৈঠকের পর আন্দোলনকারী পুলিশ সদস্যদের সমন্বয়ক পরিদর্শক জাহিদুল ইসলাম ও কনস্টেবল শোয়াইব হাসান এ ঘোষণা দেন। তারা বলেন, “আমরা সরকারের কাছে যেসব দাবি জানিয়েছিলাম তার বেশিরভাগই মেনে নেওয়ার আশ্বাস দেওয়া হয়েছে। তাই আমরা কর্মবিরতি প্রত্যাহারের ঘোষণা দিচ্ছি। আশা করি, সবাই সুন্দরভাবে নিজ নিজ দায়িত্বে ফিরবেন।” রাতে স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের সম্মেলন কক্ষে আন্দোলনরত পুলিশ সদস্যদের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করেন স্বরাষ্ট্র উপদেষ্টা ব্রিগেডিয়ার (অব.) সাখাওয়াত হোসেন। বৈঠকে পুলিশের আইজিপি, র‌্যাবের ডিজিসহ বিভিন্ন পর্যায়ের কর্মকর্তারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। উল্লেখ্য, শিক্ষার্থীদের কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলনকে কেন্দ্র করে দেশব্যাপী পুলিশের সঙ্গে আন্দোলনকারীদের সংঘর্ষে হতাহতের ঘটনার পর বেশকিছু দাবিতে গত ৬ আগস্ট থেকে কর্মবিরতির ঘোষণা দেয় বাংলাদেশ পুলিশ অধস্তন কর্মচারী সংগঠন।
