PS to energy adviser removed from position

Muhammad Hasnat Morshed Bhuiyan, the private secretary (PS) to the Adviser of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, has been removed from his post.

Following the removal of the private secretary to the Local Government Adviser and the personal officer to the Health Adviser — both of whom are under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for alleged irregularities and corruption — the removal of the energy adviser’s PS has sparked fresh discussion.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on April 6 transferring Hasnat Morshed to the position of Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce. However, no reason for the transfer was mentioned in the notification.

Hasnat Morshed, an officer of the 28th BCS batch, had been appointed as the private secretary to Fauzul Kabir Khan on August 18 last year. According to ministry procedures, private secretaries to advisers are appointed from among Deputy Secretary-ranked officers based on the advisers’ recommendations.

According to regulations, private secretaries serve based on the adviser's preference.
