Public Service Commission (PSC) has postponed the viva voce for candidates of the 44th BCS who have also qualified to participate in the 46th BCS written exam.

This decision was made public through a notification issued by the Directorate of Information on Thursday (April 10).

The notification stated that the viva exam would be rescheduled and conducted at a later, more convenient time.

The affected candidates, who are awaiting to participate in the written exam of the essential subjects for the 46th BCS, were informed that their 44th BCS viva exams will be delayed. The commission emphasized that the postponed exams would be held at a later date.

Protests have emerged from a section of candidates, who gathered outside the PSC demanding that the written exam for the 46th BCS be held after the completion of the oral exams for the 44th BCS. Despite their calls for change, security forces, including police and military personnel, dispersed the protesters in the afternoon. Notably, journalists were also prevented from standing in front of the PSC building.

Mostaqin Ashiq, spokesperson for the candidates of the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS, addressed the media, claiming, "No one is being allowed to stand in front of the PSC. The police and army members have removed us, and even journalists were barred from standing near the commission. We have now gathered in front of the Election Commission."

The protests escalated earlier in the week when a group of demonstrators breached the PSC gates following the conclusion of the 44th BCS oral exam. They demanded that the written exam for the 46th BCS be scheduled soon after the oral exams.

In response to the unrest, the PSC issued a stern warning on Wednesday, stating that legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to enter the commission premises in a disruptive manner.
