Public administration secretary Mokhlesur Rahman removed

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Dr Md Mokhlesur Rahman, has been removed from his position and reassigned as a member of the Planning Commission.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Sunday confirming the decision, stating that the order was made in the public interest and would take immediate effect.

On August 28, Dr Mokhlesur Rahman, an officer of the 82 BCS Administration cadre, had been appointed on a two-year contractual basis after the removal of Senior Secretary Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury.

During his tenure, the ministry witnessed unprecedented disorder. Allegations arose of neglect and marginalisation of officials deprived of postings and promotions.

Controversy also surrounded the appointment of secretaries, heads of agencies, and deputy commissioners, with reports alleging financial transactions linked to such postings. These issues were widely reported in the media.
