Quota protesters to hold funeral and coffin processions across country
As part of their movement demanding quota reforms for government jobs, students will hold funeral and coffin processions at the Dhaka University (DU) campus on Wednesday. This demonstration is in response to the deaths of students during clashes with the police and Chhatra League.
The coordinators of the movement's Dhaka University chapter announced the program early Wednesday (12:15 am).
They s, "We will hold funeral and coffin processions in all educational institutions and districts. Everyone in Dhaka is requested to gather at the foot of the Raju sculpture for the demonstration."
On Tuesday, protests, clashes, and shootings erupted in various parts of the country, including the capital, Dhaka, demanding reforms in the government job quota system. Six people were killed in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rangpur. Among the deceased were three students, a pedestrian, and a businessman.
