RAB arrests fugitive convict sentenced to 13 years in Chattogram
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Md. Aftab Uddin, 52, a fugitive wanted under eight warrants and sentenced to 13 years in prison, following a drive in the Bayezid Bostami area of Chattogram city.
The arrestee, Aftab Uddin, is the son of the late Nazim Uddin from the Bibirhat area of Fatikchhari Upazila in Chattogram.
The information was disclosed in a press release signed by ARM Muzaffar Hossain, Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-7 Chattogram, on Wednesday.
RAB reported that acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of the wanted fugitive in the Banani Residential Area of Bayezid Bostami, an operational team conducted a drive and apprehended him. Following preliminary legal formalities, Aftab Uddin was handed over to Fatikchhari Police Station.
According to the elite law enforcement agency, Aftab Uddin faces eight separate cases across Fatikchhari, Rangunia, Kotwali, and Sadarghat police stations. Among these, courts had sentenced him to a cumulative 13 years of imprisonment in five cases filed under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act. He had been absconding for a long time to evade justice.
