RAB arrests suspect in murder of CoU student, mother

RAB-11 has arrested a susected in connection with the murder of Comilla University (CoU) public administration student Sumaiya Afrin and her mother, Tahmin Begum.

Major Sadman Ibne Alam, Cumilla Company Commander of RAB-11 CPC-2, confirmed the arrest at 4:45pm on Monday (September 8).

The arrested, Abdur Rob, 73, a poet by profession and a resident of Langalkot Upazila. He reportedly had close ties with the victims.

He was apprehended from Langalkot in the afternoon and is currently under interrogation.

The bodies of Sumaiya Afrin and her mother were recovered from their home in the Kaliajuri area of Cumilla city in this morning.

Police initially believed the murders to be preplanned.
