RAB takes special security measures across country ahead of August 15

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken special security measures across the country to maintain law and order and prevent any sabotage or untoward incidents ahead of August 15.

In this regard, security has been tightened at identified sensitive locations, intelligence surveillance has been increased, plainclothes intelligence teams have been deployed, and cyber patrolling has been intensified.

RAB confirmed the information in a press release from its legal and media wing on Thursday, August 13.

RAB said it has been performing its duties with professionalism, honesty and dedication to protect law and order, ensure public safety and combat crime. Based on specific intelligence, regular operations and preventive measures are being carried out to bring organised criminals under the law. Every RAB member is committed to preventing any form of violence and working to build a safe and liveable society and country for the public.

The press release said each battalion has reviewed security threats and formulated and implemented security plans to maintain law and order across the country on August 15, and to prevent any banned organisations, extremist groups or miscreants from carrying out sabotage activities.

Sensitive locations in each battalion's area of responsibility have been identified and security measures have been strengthened. Intelligence surveillance has been intensified on the activities and movements of extremist groups, other banned and proscribed organisations, and anti-state and anti-government conspirators, to prevent them from creating unpleasant situations around programmes of various political parties across the country.

RAB will perform its duties under its own leadership. However, coordination has been established with the Special Security Force (SSF), local administration, other law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies in special cases.

Area-based contacts, informers or sources have been deployed to strengthen intelligence operations and gather advance information. Plainclothes intelligence teams have been deployed on routes leading to event venues in the responsible areas for surveillance. Information is also being collected on suspects and members of proscribed organisations in the responsible areas.

RAB members have been deployed, and intelligence surveillance intensified at political programme venues and surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incidents. Precautions have also been taken to prevent leaders and activists of banned and proscribed organisations, miscreants or any extremist groups from infiltrating events organised on August 15 and creating chaos.

Intelligence activities have been stepped up to prevent sabotage and subversive activities by suspects and proscribed organisations, along with necessary security and preventive measures.

In addition, cyber patrolling has been intensified to prevent rumours and propaganda on social media. RAB said immediate action will be taken against those creating chaos by uploading misleading posts, comments or images on social media.

RAB's Bomb Disposal Unit has been kept ready to take immediate action if any explosives or explosive-like materials are found anywhere.

RAB said it is committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens, identifying and preventing crime, and bringing criminals to justice. The public has also been urged to remain vigilant and to immediately inform the nearest law enforcement agency if they notice any suspicious person, object or activity.
