Rafiqul Islam appointed as Dhaka’s new district judge
Md. Rafiqul Islam has been appointed as the new District and Sessions Judge of Dhaka. Prior to this appointment, he served as the judge of Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-1.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs confirmed the appointment through a gazette notification issued on Monday. The decision was made in consultation with the Supreme Court.
In a related move, District and Sessions Judge Md. Sabbir Foyez has been appointed as the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge. Judge Foyez was previously serving as the Director (Training) at the Judicial Administration and Training Institute (JATI).
These appointments are part of a broader reshuffle involving the transfer of ten judges across the judiciary.
Notably, former Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib has recently been appointed as a Justice of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court. Additionally, District and Sessions Judge Helal Uddin has been transferred to a new post.
