Indian opposition leader and Congress figure Rahul Gandhi has expressed deep sorrow at the death of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. In a post on X on Tuesday, December 30, Rahul Gandhi said he was saddened by her passing and noted her significant role in Bangladesh’s political journey through decades of public life. He also extended his condolences to her family, supporters and the people of Bangladesh. Khaleda Zia passed away at 6am on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital, aged 80.

ভারতের বিরোধী দল কংগ্রেসের নেতা রাহুল গান্ধী সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী ও বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন বেগম খালেদা জিয়ার মৃত্যুতে গভীর শোক প্রকাশ করেছেন। মঙ্গলবার (৩০ ডিসেম্বর) এক্স-পোস্টে রাহুল গান্ধী লিখেছেন, 'বাংলাদেশের সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেগম খালেদা জিয়ার মৃত্যুতে আমি শোকাহত। জনজীবনে তার দীর্ঘ কর্মজীবনে, তিনি বাংলাদেশের রাজনৈতিক যাত্রায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেছেন।' তিনি আরও যোগ করেন, 'তার পরিবার, সমর্থক এবং বাংলাদেশের জনগণের প্রতি আমার আন্তরিক সমবেদনা।' এর আগে বিএনপির পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়, আজ সকাল ৬টায় রাজধানীর এভারকেয়ার হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় শেষ নিশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন ও তিনবারের সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেগম খালেদা জিয়া। মৃত্যুকালে তার বয়স হয়েছিল ৭৯ বছর।
