Rail communication with Sylhet has normalized after 5 hours after a bogie of an Akhaura-bound oil wagon derailed inside the Lawachara forest in Moulvibazar.

Rail communication normalized after the derailed bogie was recovered using a hydraulic toolban at 8pm on Friday (May 29).

Earlier, around 3:30pm, an empty bogie of an Akhaura-bound oil wagon from Sylhet derailed inside the Lawachara National Park. This closed rail communication with Sylhet to the rest of the country.

Railway sources said that after receiving the information, the rescue team reached the spot and started the rescue work. After removing the derailed bogie after about 5 hours of effort, the Jayantika Express, which left Dhaka, entered the Srimangal Railway Station around 8pm. Train services on the railway resumed.

Meanwhile, a crowd was seen at the Srimangal Railway Station due to the suspension of train services. Especially Sylhet-bound passengers are suffering from long waiting times.

Shamshernagar Station Master Rajat Kumar Roy said that rail communication with Sylhet across the country has become normal. A bogie of a derailed oil wagon has been recovered.
